Research:

Hanna is interested in understanding the behavior of food-borne pathogens and finding strategies to improve microbial safety of fresh produce, tree nuts, and other foods. Her research focuses on studying the levels and distribution of Salmonella on naturally-contaminated tree nut kernels. She plans to further evaluate the behavior of Salmonella throughout the manufacturing and storage process of cashew-based food products in order to identify risk factors and strategies to prevent outbreaks in the future.
