The California Processing Tomato Industry Pilot Plant (CPTIPP) is a scaled-down facility designed to mimic the production of food and beverages. It primarily serves as a teaching and research facility and is not suitable for commercial production.
Examples of work that is suitable in the CPTIPP includes:
- Optimizing an existing process using equipment we own or modular equipment that can be brought in
- Demonstration of new food ingredients in a finished product
- Testing for new product ideas or manufacturing processes
- Shelf life testing
- We don't provide ideas for commercialization consulting, chemical and microbial analysis (outside of listed tests available for shelf life testing), sensory testing, or process authority-related testing. For listings of companies who may be able to provide products and services to the food industry at large, please see the Food Industry Contacts page on the UC Food Quality website that is maintained by faculty and staff in our department.
